Good afternoon Bloggers!
Today in my teaching with technology we finished up our mini project of an introduction video to what genius hour is. We used a cite called Powtoon, which is similar to a PowerPoint structure. You makes slides of information, that are set on a timer, to create a movie style video. Powtoon allows for the incorporation of annotations and other visual and audio stimulations that are engaging to audiences. It is very user friendly, and a great tool to get students engaged in creating presentations in the classroom. I have yet to use this tool in the classroom, however, I can see myself using this tool in the future. Students can use Powtoon to submit an assignment visually, or even give a visual presentation to the class.
As I mentioned I created a Powtoon about what Genius hour is! I apologies for the simplicity of this presentation, I am still learning all the functionalities of this tool. I hope you take a look for yourself, but here is my work as a preview.
Genius hour is a major focus of my course, and we are actually asked to create our own genius hour projects. Check out my home page to follow my posts of my progress! Genius Hour was a topic recently introduced to me, and I think is very important to incorporate in the classroom. I find that students always as "why are we doing this?" or "why do we have to learn this?" Having Genius Hour allows students to make their own choices of what they want to learn.
